STRICTLY Come Dancing winner, Caroline Flack, will be making her stage debut in a national tour of the Watermill Theatre’s acclaimed production of Crazy For You.
Appearing as Irene, Caroline will join fellow former Strictly winner Tom Chambers, who was previously announced as playing the role of Bobby.
Presented by Jamie Wilson and Gavin Kalin, this high energy, high kicking and gloriously glamorous production is the ultimate feel-good musical.
Filled with great dance numbers and a fabulous score from the Gershwin brothers’ songbook, charts the troubled love story of Bobby, son of a wealthy New York banking family and frustrated Broadway hoofer, and Polly, daughter of the proprietor of a failing theatre in Deadrock, Nevada.
Sent to close the theatre down, Bobby falls for Polly and, in the guise of a Hungarian impresario, decides to save the theatre by putting on a show.
Mistaken identities, plot twists, heartbreak, happiness and a wealth of memorable tunes, including I Got Rhythm, They Can’t Take Away From Me, Nice Work If You Can Get It, and Embraceable You, all feature in this exhilarating celebration of the great Broadway musicals.
Jamie Wilson and Gavin Kalin are delighted to announce that Caroline Flack will make her stage debut as Irene during the tour, which kicks off in Plymouth on August 17, and includes a run at Cliffs Pavilion, Southend, from Tuesday to Saturday, September 26 to 30.
Caroline, who won the 12th season of Strictly Come Dancing in 2014, currently presents ITV’s Love Island. While her previous presenting credits include I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here NOW!, The Xtra Factor and The X Factor, she originally trained in musical theatre.
Tom, who created the role of Jerry Travers in the West End musical Top Hat, for which he was nominated for an Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical, won the sixth season of Strictly Come Dancing in 2008. His television credits include Casualty, Holby City and Waterloo Road, while his stage credits include Private Lives and White Christmas in the West End.
